Lady (Norah) Docker’s custom-built 1951 Daimler, the Golden Zebra, has been lavishly restored and is up for sale for £175,000 in Florida.
The millionaire socialite, pictured, who died penniless in a Paddington hotel in 1983, commissioned the £42,000 car from her husband, Sir Bernard, who was chairman of Daimler.
The aluminium body of the 167-horsepower motor was covered in gold leaf and had a vanity set on the ivory dashboard, a cocktail cabinet with cut glass decanter and a Cartier picnic set in the boot.
Once asked about the zebra-skin upholstery, Lady Docker replied: ‘Mink is too hot to sit on.’

Texas Tales: Daily Pics: Shopping Finds!
Shopping isn't my favorite activity. (What? You thought this was a fashion blog? Tsk tsk! ) But I do enjoy it every now and then. Especially when I find super deals on clearance or spectacular purchases that make my life all the better for buying them. The store I frequent most? Hobby Lobby, no question about it. I go at least once a week, mainly because I buy a lot of jewelry supplies from there for my Etsy shop , but also because I never know what cool stuff I'm gonna find. My mom and I have hit up a couple stores, including Hobby Lobby, while she's in town this week and we definitely scored! Here's the highlights: I started this blog when my husband and I moved to Scotland for a year through his company. We're a fun-loving couple with two giant dogs, a pair of grumpy old cats, Chevy trucks and a cute little house we spend our weekends on....
JASkets Blog: Zebra Wood Vase
I bought the Marlys Sowers kit for this basket at the Stateline Weaving Retreat and finished it right after I got home. It features a zebra wood base, single-piece rim and lid; and dyed hamburg cane and flat oval reed. The basket is woven over a plastic tumbler which is glued to the base, so it is not only the mold, but also a liner for the vase. While the pattern looks complicated it is actually quite easy and fun to watch form. Welcome to my new blog. I have no idea what I am going to do with this, but I am going to give it a try. Hopefully this will be a place for me to share my ideas, thoughts and rants on all things basketry (and I am sure a few other topics here and there). I am also going to dig up some old responses to the hundreds of questions I have received over the years.
