good book
Its a good book. Most every bag in there interests me so it was worth buying. Its a catchy title, but inaccurate from my point of view. Its not 21 different purse/bag patterns. I think there are actually 13 or 14 and then the rest are variations - usually a different patchwork on the bag or... -

I've been looking for directions/measurements/pattern to make a patchwork rag bag. It looks kinda like this:

Also, do you know if you can use blue jean material?...
Denim jeans fray a lot - just like the patches shown in the photo.
It looks like they used two, three, or more layers of either 100% cotton flannel or possibly 100% cotton quilting fabric to get the fraying to turn out so full and fluffy around each square.

Iowa's pheasant harvest projected to set another record low
The following text is a press release submitted by the Iowa DNR.
Pheasants in Iowa
Iowa pheasant hunters harvested more than one million birds annually 33 times since 1962. Since 2000, that's happened only twice. In the upcoming season, the projected harvest of 150,000 to 200,000 is expected to set another record low. With its title of Pheasant Capital of North America gone for more than a decade, Iowa seems destined to be an afterthought in pheasant hunting circles.
How has the once grand tradition of hundreds of thousands of hunters heading to the Iowa countryside each autumn become nearly nonexistent?
This is the first in a four part series looking at pheasants past, present and future in Iowa.
PHEASANTS ARRIVE, THRIVE IN IOWA
Wild pheasants were brought over from China by Owen Denny in 1882 to establish a population in Oregon's Willamette Valley. That initial stocking and other imports from China are the sources for current day ringnecks across the U.S.
Lazy Girl | Blog » Add A Patchwork Feature To Your Next Bag
Lazies, as you’ve probably noticed, my bag designs do not include piecework such as quilt blocks or applique. That’s intentional on my part. As I have found myself saying, I don’t dictate detail. So let’s talk about piecework. How do you include some on your next project if the bag pattern doesn’t include directions? Today, I’ll have some tips on how to do just that.

Truly, the best way to modify one of my designs is to make it first according to the pattern. Then you’ll know where and how much you can modify things for your special project.
Even though the feature is centered, the parts of the feature don’t have to be. I added two extra blocks to one side rather than on each side of Julie’s logo. This way, when Julie slings her Miranda over her right shoulder where she usually carries her bags, the logo will be totally visible behind her elbow. Yes, I planned that. If she was a leftie, I would have added the blocks to the other side of her logo....
Monique's Stitches: Teardrop Bag in Patchwork
I had a custom order for the Teardrop bag from Amy Butler in patchwork and adding a flap and inside zippered pocket. I was up for the challenge! Nellie wanted purples, pinks and blues and so we decided on Heirloom & Ginseng by Joel Dewberry, Innocent Crush by Anna Maria Horner & Flower Power from Jennifer Paganelli.. I cut 4 1/4" squares for the body and 4 1/2" squares for the strap. The trim piece along the top as well as the 'hips' are all Wilflowers fabric. I had a flap pattern I use for my diaper/wipes case and it was the perfect size~ it just needed to be a little longer, so I went with that. I put a magnetic button in the middle of the front pleat and the flap for closure. Inside Nellie wanted a zippered pocket, so I used the Mail Sack pattern~ (one of my all time favorite bag patterns) to construct that. The other side is a patchwork pocket that is divided. I'm really happy with the way it came out & I hope Nellie...
