  1. Great gifts, great service
Only a little snag when ordering. That snag was, I had trouble with the way the "personalized" portion of the order was to be handled. But, after I ordered, I get an email from someone at the vendor. Asked me for choices in color and lettering. within hours, I get an email back from them,...

Christians who dislike Mary's title as Mother of God and the Ark of the Covenant, a few questions for you.?

Sorry this is so long, but please bear with me.

Have you ever noticed the similarities between David's response to the Ark and Elizabeth's response to Mary?

You see The Ark thing as a God-prepared plan...I don't. It is a coincidence and I think it is stretching to see it as anything else.

I do not deny that Mary is the Mother of Jesus. However, God has always been and no one bore Him as a infant.

Bezjian: Madam Lucy's Green Peas

Pilaf, simmered in sheep butter, a handful of chickpeas, and sprinkles of black pepper, if you are Armenian. As I fill my cheap non-degradable black plastic bag, I recall two things (as I always do when I see green peas, be they fresh, canned, jarred, or frozen in plastic bags of corporate brands)—that is, my mother’s recipe, perfected thoroughly from macho criticism, and Madame Lucy’s servings as the only alternative to my mother’s home-cooking years ago, when I was just an observant little boy.

Madame Lucy was an Armenian woman with a helmet of dark brown hair. She wore dark eyeglasses in white frames, was short and husky, her fashion insignificant, her lips always painted bloody red, shouting and yelling, smiling and charming, always waiving her right arm and trying to control her left, which had a mysterious history and was replaced by a prosthesis that extended into a skin-toned yellow leather glove. She had an iron-fist control over her troop of cooks, busboys, waiters, doormen, chaperones, shoe-shine boys, coat girls, bartenders, musicians, and clients. They all obeyed her as the goddess of lust. At times her artificial arm moved on its own, and the right one had to force it down to its place, much like Peter Sellers as Dr. Strangelove in Stanley Kubrick’s film “Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” (which, incidentally, I saw in the Bleecker Street Cinema near New York University years ago).

One Golden Apple: wedding aprons

I was recently asked to create some aprons for the wedding of  my kid's PE teacher.  He is a special kind of fella and really quite a gifted educator- more environmental education than jumping jacks- and he and his gal needed them to wear while they were handing out pie to all of the guests as they arrived.  Love that!  He wanted some swooping swallows and hearts on the chest and a pocket for whatever one might need it for.  He also wanted a shawl with the same motif for his Granny.  All together, 6 aprons and the shawl.  I decided to use linen and keep them very raw and they really turned out lovely, if I do say so myself. 4. Thread an embroidery needle with a length of embroidery thread.  I like to work with an arms length or so to keep it manageable. Tie a knot at the end and pull a stitch from the back of the apron to the front.  Continue with a running stitch around the entire shape, ending...

Bezjian: Madam Lucy's Green Peas

Armenian Weekly - Dec 31, 1969

Bezjian: Madam Lucy's Green Peas The circular tables were covered with white linen and decorated with drops of grease; imprints of red lipstick slept on the cloth napkins like broken hearts; and a lattice of red, white, blue, silver, gold, and green tinsel hung from the ceiling,
Luscious lamb chops with Spanish inspiration

The Seattle Times - Dec 31, 1969

I was instructed to wait in the "linen closet," a cavernous stone room lined with shelves, which were labeled with embroidered doily-like things. At one end of the room, huge windows opened out over long rows of lavender plants and the oak-covered
